AS A NATIVE, I would add : if you're invited by French people for a dinner, to be polite, don't arrive on time. The tradition is to arrive at least 15 to 20 minutes late. If it's a party (an evening with lots of people) you're supposed to arrive even later (at least 1/2 hour late). casual items for the mother of the bride to wear in the summer

I don't think a waiter will be so surprised (unlike what's said in the article) if you are asking for some ice. And at summer time, they put ice in the cold drink without asking.
And Escargots (snails) ? ..... I know that "Escargots are meant to be a really typical French meal.....but I don't know any friends or family who eat snails..... !!! Maybe they've tried once in their life but that's all !!! So it more a legend than the reality !!
