My mom was most definitely a girlie girl, rather glamorous, and witty too. As a kid, one of my favorite pass times was lying on my parents bed, chin on hands and watching my mom 'put her face on' -- magically transform as she did her hair and put her makeup on. Watching people put their face on is still one of my favorite pastimes and I scratch that itch today by watching makeup tutorials on YouTube. Wanted to share this one because it hit a nerve. I caught a little flack for ... being Asian and bleaching my hair blonde. Was asked if I were trying to look white.
Over the years people have assumed I'm all sorts of ethnicities including white. There's no ethnicity I'd be ashamed of being. But no, bleaching my hair had nothing to do with trying appear more white. The main reason I bleached my hair is I'm aging. Softer colors help soften the appearance. As we age our faces have more shadows and nothing enhances the shadows on an aging face like stark dark hair framing it. Some people can pull that look off though. I cannot. Some people prefer a starker look. I do not. It's the 21st century and male or female, whatever color your skin, these days you can wear pretty much any look you like. Somebody don't like it -- their problem. off white of wedding
